Whey Hey Wi The Monkey!!

Well Caoilte went to her first show a couple of weeks ago and boy was I proud of her she had a 6Th place in jumping on the Saturday despite the rain, I was not feeling well. Out of the six runs over the two days there were no eliminations just nervy handler errors. Oh and my old habit of admiring her contact on the A frame then putting her of when I laughed at her staying on the contact as I didn't say go did not go down well with her so we picked up 10 faults. She was brill she seemed to come into her own know what her job was and was getting on with it.

So was it a one of!!

Of course not I trust her now and have learned to read her and her me thanks to Kenny's patience in teaching me.

Our latest show was Scottish Border Collie in some ways I was not looking forward to it as it would be the first time since losing Glen that I would meet up with Dora, Glens breeder and see his sister Corrie.

Our first run was 1-3 agility a lovely straight forward course with a box which I need to make a strength to handle as I never do them well. She almost went to the jump to the side instead of straight on but did a fab run on the home straight came out of the cloth tunnel as I got to the entrance and on hearing go go go completed the last jump. My wee legs were like jelly but I played tug with her all the way back to the van. She got 14th place.

The next run was grade 3 agility and the course seemed to be causing a stir.
I walked it and walked it the only real time waster for me was the position of the weave. We have been working on various entries I did not want to dent her confidence in the ring. I decided to recall to heel bring her round my left leg straighten her up to help her get the weave entry. I ended up a tad close to the 2ND jump and dropped my had said heel before her furry feet were on the ground so down came the pole and I went into confident handler mode. Wow ma Monkey was awesome. Her face was a picture when I did a front cross in front of the A frame to be where I wanted to be. When she crossed the finish line I was so proud told Kenny she did him proud. She was in heaven cause she got cuddles from him.

I felt for the judge as there was only one clear round in the class. I thought I might be lucky to get a place. On the way back from a long walk with five mutts in tow I hearld "3rd Colette Braid Glenalco's Celtic Connection" I ran all the way to pick up her rossette. I still have a large grin every time I think of the course and her achievement.

I have drawn out the course but cant get it to copy to put on the blog. Blog it!!!

I might be able to e mail it though. What a fab day and the sun shone too. I saw Dora and had cuddles from Glen's sister, said sorry to Rhu for not concentrating on her courses and only helping her get One clear run. Will do better next time.
